Spili is built almost in the center of the county on the west side of Cedar Mountain, which is the southwestern extension of Psiloritis, at an altitude of 430 m, which feeds the springs of the village with running waters. In the village square are tall plane trees and a fountain with 25 lion's head fountains, from the mouths of which flows fresh water.

It's name comes from the many cavernous hollows and small caves located in Voriza mountain where there are traces of ancient paths. The village church which is the Duomo cathedral is dedicated to the Apostle Paul.
In the village there are several mansions and old churches that are decorated. An excellent starting point for any destination beach or mountain, north or south of the island. Being only 27.6 kilometers away from Rethimno city and the north coast and just 20 kilometers away from the famous south coastline, this house works as the ideal basis for a full holiday experience.
