There are three main beaches all a short distance from the villas welcoming sun-worshippers, wind-surfers and scuba-divers. With clean and pristine waters, from golden sands to a quiet and long pebble beach, the beaches have modern facilities including cafés, sunbed rentals and toilets. There are also many other blue flag awarded beaches within a short drive. It is also possible to explore sheltered coves along the coastline.

Kalo Chorio maintains a traditional feel. It is a small village with tavernas, bars (many with internet access) and shops close by.

The village of Istro is a short distance away on the site of the ancient town of Istrona, remains of which are still being uncovered.

The cosmopolitan town of Agios Nikolaos is only 7 kilometers away with bustling cafés and shops around the port area, marina and lake. Enjoy the vibrant night scene with many restaurants and bars. It was the setting for the 1972-3 UK BBC-TV series The Lotus Eaters.

Also within an easy drive are Elounda (the setting for the 1977 UK BBC-TV series Who Pays the Ferryman) and Plaka with trips to Spinalonga Island (the setting for Victoria Hislop’s best selling book The Island made into a 26-part Greek TV drama in 2010), Kritsa, Sitia, Lassithi Plateau and many other towns and hidden villages all having something special to offer.
