Villa Alma is a comfortable and modern house of 180 sq. meters which is surrounded by beautiful gardens and installations, all within an area of four thousand square meters. The house was designed by a well known architect whose designs combined a modern construction method with simple lines for the interior spaces, which enhance the advantageous position of Villa Alma. The large windows within the unified interior spaces inspire relaxation, heighten the feeling of summer and also provide unique vistas, e.g. of the beautiful bay, the port of Hersonissos and the surroundings of the Villa. The orientation of the house allows for optimal light and air to come through, and also makes it easy to choose between a sundrenched or a shaded veranda, depending on the time of day. At the same time the orientation of the house allows guests to enjoy unique moments at sun rise or under the moonlight. Particular emphasis has been placed on the furnishings of the interior spaces. The aim was to combine aesthetics with comfort. The Villa is fully equipped to ensure that the stay of our guests becomes a unique experience for them.

Villa Alma is surrounded by beautiful gardens with trees that grow olives, carobs, lemons, pomegranates, almonds, apricots and other plants, mainly ornamental trees and herb plants. Quests are encouraged to pick their own fruit and vegetables, and also relax in the square open space. You may also sunbathe on the lawn, under the warm rays of the Cretan sun, and/or take a romantic stroll at dusk. Guests may choose to have their meal prepared in the wood-fired oven or have a barbeque in the big square outside the House. There is a table there which can sit twelve persons. Prior arrangements are necessary.

Villa Alma Includes a fully equipped kitchen with all cooking utensils. There is a big fridge with freezer, built-in ceramic hob oven with large interior space, a microwave oven, a dishwasher, a toaster, a blender and a coffee machines for espresso and filter coffee. 

Villa Alma has four bedrooms.

One Master Bedroom with one king size bed.

Two bedrooms each with two single beds which you may choose to combine into a king size bed.

One bedroom with two single beds.

All beds are equipped with comfortable, high quality orthopaedic mattresses and pillows.

Bedside tables, lamps, closets and air conditioning units in each room are also included.

The master bedroom includes a plasma TV.

One or more baby cots are available upon request.

For our very young guests a sandpit is in the garden area of the Villa for unlimited play.

Shared pool

Villa Alma does not have its own pool. However, our guests and their children, if they so wish, can use the pool next door, approximately 40 m. from the Villa. The area of the pool is 72 sq.m. and there is always a qualified person who oversees the swimmers. In the pool area you will find a friendly spot for coffee and drinks. The opening hours are from 09:00 to 21:00. Most importantly, however, our guests will enjoy a swim in the sea and have a great time on the famous organized beaches located at a short distance from the Villa

Location

One of the biggest advantages of Villa Alma is its location. Situated  on the Sarandari hill, it allows ease of access to and beautiful vistas of the very famous "Sarandari Coves", all within walking distance. You can choose from five different inlets with great sand and crystal clear waters. The seabed is ideal for snorkelling.

The Port of Hersonissos, famous throughout Europe for its tourism services, is approximately 2.5 km away from Villa Alma. This means that our guests can take advantage of two different worlds, i.e. the livelier and more energetic aspects of a highly developed tourism area, and the cosy, relaxed, comfortable and luxurious atmosphere of the Villa and its gardens with the spectacular vistas.

Your destination is the Sarandari hill 2.5 km from the Port of Hersonissos.

Hersonissos features a highly developed consumer market with hundreds of shops and a shopping centre. There are many tourist shops offering high quality natural products or Greek art which can satisfy even the most demanding visitor.

It resonates the authentic side of the Cretan civilization. The olive oil of Crete is the pillar of the local nutrition with a history which goes back to the origins of the Minoan Civilization 5000 years ago. The local olive oil offers a model for a healthier and longer life. In addition, the Cretan cuisine makes exclusive use of fresh vegetables, fresh fish, quality meet and dairy products in regiments and proportions specific to the Mediterranean Diet. In most villages of the municipality you will find taverns with authentic Cretan cuisine.


Nightlife:

Great and vibrant nightlife. Hersonissos is packed with cafes, bars, discos and clubs for all kinds of music styles. Organized DJs sets and parties, especially in summer. Words may be too poor to describe a night out in Hersonissos.

Cultural tourism:

This is another kind of experience which every visitor can enjoy. The Municipality of Hersonissos is a place rich with cultural resources and heritage. There are four museums, i.e. the Agricultural Museum of Menelaos Parlamas, the Lychnostatis Folk Art Museum, the Archaeological Museum of Malia, and the Argyrakeio War & Ethnological Museum. In addition, there are two famous aquariums: Thalassokosmos and Aquaworld.


Villages & Settlements:

Cultural and religious tourism also involves organized trips to many unique villages where visitors can have a unique experience of local tastes, colours and scents  as they explore these villages and settlements.

Museums, Monuments, Archaeological sites:

The municipality is rich with archaeological sites which are identified by the following names: the Archaeological Site of Malia, Chrysolakos, the Archaeological Site of Amnissos, Nirou Mansion, the Archaeological Site of Kastri, and Armi.

The most famous site is the Minoan Palace of Malia. It is found in a beautiful location near the sea and, in terms of size, is the third largest Minoan palace after Knossos and Phaistos.

According to legend the palace of Malia was the residence of Sarpedon, the brother of Minos. In 1915 Joseph Hadjidakis began excavations in the harbour, and in 1921 the French School of Archaeology continued excavations in Chryssolakkos where the famous beautiful gold pendant with the bees was found. Currently, this item is the most important find from Malia.

Churches :

Visitors will enjoy a visit to places of worship, e.g. to churches, chapels and sanctuaries, which are strewn all over the countryside while some of them date from the 11th to the 16th c. AD. Every church has its own historical significance and style of architecture. Each place of worship holds unique experiences for the visitors.

The Byzantine style churches are those at the village of Avdou, specifically the churches of St. Anthony, St. George, the Annunciation of Our Lady and that of St. Constantine. All churches carry magnificent murals. At the village of Potamies you will find the church of Panagia Gouverniotissa and at Kera the church of Panagia Kardiotissa.

At the village of Episkopi there are the Byzantine churches of the Archangel Michael, St. Paraskevi and that of St. John. All carry beautiful murals

Monasteries:

Also, there are a few Monasteries within the municipality which are worth a visit. Of special interest to locals and foreign visitors alike are the following: (those dedicated to Our Lady: Panagia Kardiotissa [at Kera], Panagia Gouverniotissa [at Potamies], Panagia Eleousa [at Voritsio], and the Monasteries of Panagia Theogennitoros [at Mochos]. In addition there are the monasteries of St. John the Theologian [at Anopolis] and that of Genesis of Theotokos at Sgourokefali.

Visitors will enjoy the tour of these monasteries which represent unique examples of architecture, sculpture and iconography.

Golf:

The Crete Golf Club is the only golf course in Crete, and one of the most spectacular in the Mediterranean. Covering an area of 178 acres (178K sq.m.) the golf course offers unique experiences to players throughout the year.
